ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi | Arrive in Hanoi

Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival at the airport, an airport official will greet you with a signboard and will help you navigate the airport. You’ll then get VIP fast track immigration and proceed to collect your luggage (this avoids the typical 2-3 hours visa queues). Continue to the welcome area where our guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in the Old French Quarter for check-in. Enjoy dinner and leisure in the evening.

After check-in, enjoy a stroll on your own around Hoan Kiem Lake outside your hotel. Feel free to also pick up a souvenir at the night markets or at one of the many trinket shops in the alleys and small roads of this historic part of town.

Day 2: Hanoi – Lan Ha Bay | Lan Ha Bay Luxury Cruise

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and escorted to Lan Ha Bay, one of the Wonders of the Orient.

On arrival at Paradise Lounge after the long drive from Hanoi, you will have time to refresh yourself before boarding time. Once you have embarked, you will be taken to the restaurant where you’ll meet the Paradise Peak crew. While you enjoy your welcome drink, you will be given a short briefing about your cruise and itinerary. Don’t forget – your butler will take care of your every need while you are on board. Lunch will be served in the restaurant while cruising the islands and islets of stunning Halong Bay.

After lunch is the time to contemplate the timeless beauty of Halong Bay as Paradise Peak cruises past the limestone islands, islets, and towers. Your first excursion is a visit to Tung Sau Pearl Farm, an area in Halong Bay dedicated to growing pearls and practicing a handmade technique based on Vietnamese tradition and Japanese technology. This is also an ideal destination for kayaking. If this excursion doesn’t take your fancy, stay on board, and treat yourself to a delicious afternoon tea. Your next stop is the magnificent Sung Sot Cave. The cave itself is stunning but so are the views on exit, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views across the Bay.

The Paradise Peak will anchor overnight at Coconut Tree Island. Enjoy watching the sunset from the sundeck, followed by a demonstration of easy-to-make Vietnamese recipes. Enjoy your Paradise Royal Dinner your way – dine anywhere you want on the ship: your cabin, the sundeck, or the restaurant. It really is up to you.

After dinner, the rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 3: Hanoi – Saigon | Sunrise in Lan Ha Bay | Flight to Saigon

Awaken your senses with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck before breakfast. Breathe in the fresh morning air, watch the sunrise, and feel your body revitalize. As Paradise Peak arrives at “must-see” Titov Island, you can hike to the top for stunning views of Halong Bay, or go for a refreshing swim in the cool, emerald waters. For a more relaxing visit, you can people-watch while sipping on a coconut.

Back on board, breakfast will be served in the restaurant or in your cabin as we cruise past Thien Cung and Dau Go Caves and Fighting Cocks Islet. Bill settlement and check-out before we return to Tuan Chau Island.

Take a late afternoon flight to Saigon. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

Saigon(officially Ho Chi Minh City) is a bustling metropolis of the South and the economic muscle of Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, it was the main base center of the US military with the largest airport in the region. Prior to that, it was under French colonial rule and was an Asian hub of sea trade. The city is based in the Mekong River Delta region – the rice basket of Southeast Asia and where many exotic fruits are cultivated. Full of history and culture, Saigon will certainly be an interesting visit.

Day 4: Saigon | Mekong Delta Aqua Cruise

We will collect you at the Ho Chi Minh meeting point and transfer you by air-conditioned coach to My Tho dock where we will welcome you aboard the Aqua Mekong. Day 5: Saigon | Mekong Delta Aqua Cruise

Begin the day at Binh Thanh mat weaving village or opt to visit Sa Dec where you will peruse the vibrant market and see the famous house of Marguerite Duras’ legendary lover, Mr. Huynh Thuy Le.

In the afternoon, visit a typical Mekong Delta village called My An Hung where you will walk through verdant plantations. You will be invited to a local’s home to taste local fruits while hearing traditional folk songs performed by villagers followed by a unique unicorn dance. A 17-kilometer Biking option is also available.

Day 6: Saigon – Chau Doc | Mekong Delta Aqua Cruise

Travel by skiff along Bassac Canal to Chau Doc floating market then head off by van to Long Son Pagoda atop Sam Mountain. Ask the monks about their age-old Buddhist practices. Return via the bustling morning market.

Optional: 18 kilometers bike ride on Long Khanh Island or take a rickshaw ride to visit Tan Chau Market with a chef.

After lunch, relax by the pool, try traditional Khmer massage, or learn to cook Mekong inspired dishes while we cross the border.

Day 7: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh | Mekong Delta Aqua Cruise

On this river of time to admire dexterous Khmer artisans dyeing and weaving kroma, the ubiquitous item no Khmer lives without. Explore the riverbank on two wheels if you wish, past Buddhist temples, and thatch houses perched on spindly wooden stilts while white oxen wade just offshore.

After lunch, board our marine-grade aluminum skiffs and head towards the tamarind trees of Preah Prosop, a remote village little changed over several lifetimes.

For those who wish, we visit the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide or choose to shop at the Russian Market. We bid farewell to 4-night guests who are disembarking in Phnom Penh.

Our guide will greet you at the pier while you disembark the cruise. Then transfer to Raffles Hotel Le Royal for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap | Flight to Siem Reap | Private Dinner and Apsara Show

The morning is at your leisure. In the afternoon, you will take a flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and then continue to Shinta Mani for check-in. Then the rest of the afternoon you can enjoy your private residence, take a stroll along the river, or go to visit the Made in Cambodia Market nearby.

Siem Reap is a quaint town in Cambodia and the gateway to the vast remains of the Angkor empire. Discover the Royal Gardens on your own with ancient trees home to a colony of giant fruit bats. Take a stroll along the scenic riverside and visit the night markets to find unique souvenirs. You may also want to spend the evening with a visit to Pub Street with several restaurants and bars that stay open late into the night. Many restaurants have live entertainment in the evening.

Nearing dusk, you’ll go to a private dinner at a traditional wooden villa in the countryside surrounded by dragonfruit orchards and rice fields. Tiki torches and live traditional music will welcome you. Start with cocktails and canapes. Then enjoy an exquisite evening dinner while you chat and reflect on the fond memories you have collected over the last few weeks. Return to the hotel when you are ready.

Day 10: Siem Reap | Angkor Thom by Bicycle | Bayon with a Scholar

Enjoy a relaxing cycling tour in the morning in ancient Angkor Thom – a stone city built around the time of Angkor Wat.

The biking tour will start at the South Gate – a photogenic bridge at the gateway of the stone city of Angkor Thom which has made its way into many Hollywood movies. Angkor Thom was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer Empire. Enter the stone city and explore shaded trails and ancient monuments. Visit Bayon Temple where you will be surrounded by 216 gigantic stone faces which fame as “Khmer Smile”, you will also visit the Terrace of Elephants, the Royal Palace, and the Terrace of the Leper King. Stop your cycling trip with a visit to the local monastery to chat with monks and see their daily life.

On the way back, stop to see the Killing Fields of Wat Thmei. Our guide will relay to you about the history of the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot, and the war. Cambodia is still healing from these atrocities.

Day 11: Siem Reap | Gondola Ride and Angkor Wat Temple

For your last day in Siem Reap, you’ll experience the temple relics in a way that will really let you feel like you’ve escaped the 20th century and traveled a thousand years back to a time when life was simple and nature was surreal.

After breakfast, you’ll go for a gondola ride through the moats of Angkor Thom to see the vast ruins of the Khmer Empire at its peak. Close your eyes and smell the sweet perfume of the Romdoul flowers growing wild on the shore mixed with the scent of lotus flowers bobbing in the water.

Finally, be prepared today to enjoy one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Angkor Wat. At this point, you most probably have gotten glimpses of the towers over treetops and the gates in front of passing. But now you’ll finally get to satiate that curiosity that’s grown in the last few days.

Enter Angkor Wat and learn about the stories and amazing architecture that has stunned archeologists leaving more questions than answers. Angkor Wat possesses some of the most intricate and longest stone carvings in the world. This complex is four times the size of the Vatican City making it the largest religious site in the world. Spend the morning adventuring through the many passages, levels, and exploring chambers that once housed one many treasure of the ancient world. It will be an experience you won’t forget.

Day 12: Siem Reap | National Museum and Artisan’s D’Angkor

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today our guide will take you to discover The Legend Revealed – Angkor National Museum. Housed within are robust collections of ancient statues and relics. This museum will take you through a journey back in time from the inception of the Khmer civilization to its pinnacle of dominance in the region. Through the use of interactive exhibits, you will develop a deeper understanding of customs, traditions, and beliefs held by the ancient civilization in this region. This museum provides an excellent presentation of the secrets and mysteries surrounding the Khmer Empire.

Next, you’ll go to visit Artisans d’Angkor, a school of art dedicated to the preservation of traditional Khmer skills in silk-weaving, stone-carving, wood-carving, acquiring, and painting. It is also an organization dedicated to promoting the education of individuals from impoverished backgrounds. Continue to the Old Market where you can see many local products and offerings on display. Then return to the resort for leisure and overnight.

Day 13: Siem Reap – Bangkok | Flight to Bangkok

You are at leisure in the morning until your flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival, we will arrange a fast track service for getting through immigration and collecting your luggage.

Day 14: Bangkok | Ancient Ayutthaya City

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Start early and transfer North to the Ancient Kingdom of Ayutthaya. Start by visiting Wat Phu Khao Thong – a temple outside of Ayutthaya started by the invading Burmese who built the base when they overtook Ayutthaya and was finished by Siam who later took back their city. Continue to Ayutthaya and start with the Royal Palace and Royal Temple – dating back to the 14th century. Continue to the nearby Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit where the largest bronze Buddha in Thailand is housed.

Enjoy a Thai lunch and some free time. Have a short visit to Wat Lokaya Sutha – the image of the reclining Buddha. Then continue to the Royal Palace at Bang Pa In, which is the Summer Palace of the Thai Royal Family. Return back to the hotel in Bangkok for leisure time.

Day 15: Bangkok | Bangkok by Rice Barge | New Year’s Eve Celebration

After breakfast, take a renovated teakwood rice barge to Wat Arun – the Temple of the Dawn to enjoy a stunning view and explore the gem of Bangkok. Enjoy canapes and beverages enroute.

Continue to one of the must-see sights, the spectacular Grand Palace, undoubtedly the city’s most famous landmark. Built in 1782- and for 150 years the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government – the Grand Palace of Bangkok is a grand old dame indeed, that continues to have visitors in awe with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail, all of which is a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship of Thai people.

Within its walls were also the Thai war ministry, state departments, and even the mint. Today, the complex remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom. Within the palace complex are several impressive buildings including Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which contains the small, very famous and greatly revered Emerald Buddha that dates back to the 14th century. The robes on the Buddha are changed with the seasons by HM The King of Thailand and forms an important ritual in the Buddhist calendar. Thai Kings stopped living in the palace around the turn of the twentieth century, but the palace complex is still used to mark all kinds of other ceremonial and auspicious happenings. Then return to the hotel for some leisure time in the afternoon.

This New Year’s Eve, enjoy the fireworks of Bangkok from the expanse windows or from your private balconies. Bangkok’s New Year is the Asian equivalent of the New Year’s celebration at the Big Apple in New York or Dubai Festival City in Dubai.
