Beautiful Shots of Angkor Wat for Instagram Enthusiasts
March 23, 2021
No trip to Cambodia is complete without a visit to the largest religious monument on the planet – Angkor Wat Temple. Despite the fact that it is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the crown jewel of temples in Cambodia, the temple offers so many picturesque backdrops for Instagram shots.
Let’s be honest! Pictures are one of the most essential aspects of travel. No matter what type of traveler you are, you will just want to “Wow” your followers with beautiful snapshots on social media.
With its masterful architecture, it’s no surprise that the entire complex of Angkor Wat always serves breathtaking views from every angle. But, it can be frustrating to decide and prioritize exactly what vantage point is the best to capture the scene. Even though I have spent my entire life in exploring this ancient city, I still am constantly discovering new camera angles that I never noticed before. And below are some of my favorites:
The Exterior and Interior Wall of the Temple:
The front and back entrance gates alone provide so many great photographic possibilities with praiseworthy carvings and galleries as backdrops.
North and South Libraries:
Make a quick stop at one of the libraries before entering the temple inside. Every angle of this place is just very aesthetic. You can pose in front of its door or on the right and left side with Angkor Wat towers from the distance. These spots have recently become popular for a pre-wedding photoshoot.
The Mirror Ponds:
We can’t leave these out when it comes to the most iconic front-row shots of Angkor Wat. Pose in front of one of the ponds with five towers of the temple and its reflection between the water lilies. The best time for photographing the ponds is at sunrise.
The Small Path leading to Angkor Wat:
Instead of the main paved pathway, make your way down a little side path to take some cool shots while enjoying each step of your journey to the temple.
The Central Chambers:
There’s a bunch of photo opportunities not to be missed here. The warm and pastel hues are just incredibly amazing from different angles.
The Temple Back Side:
While the front side may be more popular, the back is something else. This could be a bonus to give another Instagram-worthy photo.
Doorways and Windows:
Every one of the doors and windows of the temple is definitely worth a snapshot. And just like every snowflake is a unique piece of art, every doorway and window are surrounded by detailed carvings with their own character and motif.
