ITINERARY

Day 1: Kathmandu | Welcome to Nepal!

International Flight:Excluded
Welcome to Nepal! During your arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Hotel Dwarikas for check in at their Junior Suite with a day bed to lounge and luxury decor of pottery, genuine antiques, and artifacts. Receive a short tour briefing in the lobby. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the shops and cafes surrounding the hotel.(Some site-seeing may be arranged depending on the time of your arrival flight.)

Day 2: Kathmandu – Pokhara | Bandipur Newari Village

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
In the morning, you’ll transfer by a scenic road up to Pokhara. On the way, stop to visit Bandipur – a beautiful traditional Newari village with a backdrop of snow-covered Himalayan peaks. Continue to Pokhara. Upon arrival, check in at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge in their Deluxe Room with a lovely view of the mountains range. Then continue to explore the Pokhara Bazaar – a colorful market with hundreds of traders selling exotic spices, apparel, and curios. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore this mountain town or relax at the resort poolside.

Day 3: Pokhara | Pokhara and Phewa Lake

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
Start the morning with a Yoga class. Then transfer to Devi’s Falls to see the waterfall where the Pardi Khola stream vanishes underground. Continue to the Gupteswor Mahadev Cave and International Mountain Museum – an underground museum inside the longest cave of Nepal. Learn about the expeditions made to Mount Everest here. Finally, enjoy a scenic boat ride on Phewa Lake – a pristine mountain lake with reflections of the nearby Machhapuchhre Mountain.

Day 4: Pokhara – Kathmandu | Annapurna Mountain View

Get an early start to Sarangkot viewpoint as the sun is rising for a superb view of the Annapurna mountain range. Enjoy some coffee or tea at a cafe nearby with the mountain air and stunning scenery. Then fly with the guide back to Kathmandu. Upon return, visit the Garden of Dreams – a historical garden which was one of the most spectacular in the world at its time.

Day 5: Kathmandu | Discover Nepal’s Capital

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
Start early exploring the capital of Nepal with a stop at a vegetable and spice market. Learn a bit about Nepalese cuisine and observe the daily life of locals in the morning. Then continue to Kathmandu Durbar Square. First you’ll visit Taleju Temple – where Nepalese have selected a young girl to embody the goddess of Taleju. The temple is her palace and where locals come to worship her. Then continue to Kal Bhairab – an icon that many locals pay homage to.

In the afternoon, visit the Monkey Temple – an important Buddhist site that overlooks the Kathmandu Valley. Then transfer to Patan Durbar Square where lay the ancient royal palace of the Malla Kings. It is said one could spend a day looking at the architecture and temples of the Patan Durbar Square and not take in all it’s grandeur. When you’re ready, you’ll transfer back to your hotel for the evening.

Day 6: Kathmandu | Mount Everest and the Bhaktapur Kingdom

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner
During the morning, enjoy a 1 hour scenic plane ride over the Himalayas and Mt. Everest – the tallest mountain in the world.

During the afternoon, transfer to the ancient city capital of Bhaktapur to visit the Bhaktapur Durbar Square – a square which sets in front of the old royal palace of the Bhaktapur Kingdom. It is one of the best preserved palace courtyards and distinguishes the old architecture and styles. Finish the day with a visit to the oldest temple in Nepal, the Changu Narayan Temple. The original pillar dates back to 464 AD. Enjoy the pleasant views of the surrounding countryside before returning to Kathmandu for leisure time.

The evening will start with a dinner show featuring Nepalese cuisine at Nepali Chulo, traditional live music and dance as a triumphant finale to your Nepal explorations.

Day 7: Kathmandu – Paro | Flight to Paro – Kingdom of Bhutan

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner
During the morning, transfer by flight to Paro. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted at the airport by your Paro guide and escorted to Le Meridien Paro, Riverfront for check in.

The afternoon can be enjoyed at leisure time or visit the National Museum which houses many of the artifacts of Bhutan, some dating back to 4,000 B.C.

Day 8: Paro | Bhutanese Fortress and Chele Pass

Meals: Breakfast
Start the morning with a visit to the Rinpung Dzong – a large fortress and community center of the Bhutanese. Then enjoy a scenic ride to Chele Pass the highest altitude in the country accessible by vehicle. Take a hike through meadows to Kung Karpo Pass. While here you can get an excellent view of frosted mountain peaks. Continue along the ridge overlooking Paro valley until you arrive at the Kila Gompa nunneries – a group of convents built in the steep cliffs. Visit with the nuns and learn about their isolated lifestyle.

Day 9: Paro | Expedition to the Tiger’s Nest

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner
Today, hike to the ancient cliff monastery of Taksang – the Tiger’s Nest. You’ll enjoy scenic views of the forest and Paro Valley on the climb up. Then experience the famous Tiger’s Nest. Legend says it was home to the first Tibetan monk to spread Buddhism in Bhutan.

During the afternoon is at leisure to explore Paro town.

Day 10: Paro – Bangkok | Flight to Thailand – Best of Bangkok

Meals: Breakfast
Morning board a plane to Bangkok. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to Mandarin Oriental for check in.

During the afternoon, explore the best sites in Bangkok. The first destination is Wat Phra Kaew, the chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which houses the world’s most famous and priceless image of Buddha. The 75cm statue of jade sits atop an 11m golden pedestal surrounded by lavish murals and richly decorated pavilions. Next, you’ll visit The Grand Palace which encompasses several major buildings. The most prominent include The Throne Hall, The Reception Hall and The Coronation Hall.

Then you’ll visit Wat Traimit, the temple of the golden Buddha. It weighs 5.5 tons of solid gold, and was sculptured in the Sukhothai style. At the end of the tour, you’ll be escorted to your hotel.

Day 11: Bangkok | Ayutthaya Kingdom

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
Start early and transfer North to the Ancient Kingdom of Ayutthaya. Start by visiting Wat Phu Khao Thong – a temple outside of Ayutthaya started by the invading Burmese who built the base when they overtook Ayutthaya and was finished by Siam who later took back their city. Continue to Ayutthaya and start with the Royal Palace and Royal Temple – dating back to the 14th century. Continue to the nearby Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit where the largest bronze Buddha in Thailand is housed.

Enjoy a Thai lunch and some free time. Have a short visit to Wat Lokaya Sutha – the image of the reclining Buddha. Then continue to the Royal Palace at Bang Pa In, which is the Summer Palace of the Thai Royal Family. Return back to your hotel in Bangkok for leisure time.

The evening will commence with a Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise on Apsara by Banyan Tree. As dusk is setting, enjoy the views of the lights of Bangkok while tasting sumptuous courses served to you en route.

Return to the hotel after dinner.

Day 12: Bangkok | Venice of the East

Meals: Breakfast , Dinner
During the morning, you’ll visit Thonburi, the western part of Bangkok, situated on the right side of the Chao Phya River. Its many canals had originally given Bangkok the name “Venice of the East.” Passing by boat along the canals gives you a first-hand impression of the scenic life along Bangkok’s waterways. Also, visit the Royal Barges and the Temple of Dawn. After the tour is finished, you’ll return back to your hotel for your leisure time.

The evening will commence with a Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise on Apsara by Banyan Tree. As dusk is setting, enjoy the views of the lights of Bangkok while tasting sumptuous courses served to you en route.

Return to the hotel after dinner.

Day 13: Bangkok – Chiang Mai | Flight to Chiang Mai | Chiang Mai Highlights

Morning board a flight to Chiang Mai up in the Shan Hills of Thailand, often referred to as the “Swiss Alpes of Asia”. Continue to Anantara Chiang Mai Resort for check in.

In the afternoon, visit the most prominent temples in Chiang Mai. Start with Wat Phra Singh which houses the famous Phra Singh Buddha image. It features Lanna art throughout and illustrates many famous Buddhist stories. Continue on to Wat Chedi Luang, which once contained the Emerald Buddha. The temple is partially in ruins due to an earthquake in the 1500s. Then stop at Wat Chiang Man which is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai and also houses one of Thailand’s greatest treasures: the Crystal Buddha(usually only able to be seen on Sundays and certain festival dates). Then continue to Wat Suan Dok, which houses many of the remains of generations of the old Chiang Mai Royal Family. Finally, visit Wat Jet Yot – this peaceful temple is surrounded by green and was built in the Mahabodhi style from India to house the Eighth World Buddhist Council in 1453. You’ll return to your hotel for the evening.

Day 14: Chiang Mai | Jungle Trek with Elephants

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
This morning, you will picked-up from the hotel for a joint tour to Elephant Nature Park. You will spend an amazing day with the elephants, learning about the program, their daily up-keep and breeding program. You’ll also get a chance to feed and bathe them as well. After learning how to safely and properly bathe an elephant, plunge right in and help scrub these giants as they splash around. If going into the river is not for you then watch the elephants bathe and play while you stay dry on the sandy shore. Finally, enjoy lunch at the park before returning to Chiang Mai in the afternoon.

Day 15: Chiang Mai | Ancient Wiang Kum Kam City

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch

Start today with a local tradition of offering alms to Buddhist monks at Wat Srisodain the early morning. Then transfer to the newly discovered the ancient ruins of Wiang Kum Kam. Take a horse-drawn carriage through the city ruins stopping to learn about the history. Then embark on the Scorpion-tail Cruise along the Ping River to watch life and nature on the shores and enjoy the scenic views. Return to your hotel for leisure time.

Day 16: Chiang Mai – Phuket | Flight to Phuket Beaches

During the morning, fly to Phuket where the sun rises over the Andaman Sea. Day 17: Phuket | Sea Gypsies and Beach Paradise
