ITINERARY

Day 1: Bangkok – Mandalay | Welcome to Indochina!

Welcome to Myanmar! This morning, we will arrange your flight from Bangkok to Mandalay. Upon arrival in Mandalay, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Rupar Mandalar Resort for check in at their Premier Suite with timber furniture, private balcony, and upgraded amenities. You’ll receive a short tour briefing in the lobby then enjoy a short leisure time.

Note: If your international flight arrives before 10:30AM we can arrange your flight from Bangkok to Mandalay on the same day. For later international flight arrivals into Bangkok, we can arrange an overnight at an airport hotel with airport shuttle service.

This evening, enjoy a unique cultural dinner show at Kinsana Garden Theatre. The performance features traditional musical instruments and dance spanning eight periods dating back to the 11th century. While the theatrics ensue, enjoy some of the finest cuisine in Myanmar to welcome you to Burma.

Day 2: Mandalay | Explore Mandalay City Highlights

Meals: Breakfast

This morning you’ll be able to relax at your hotel or explore city on your own. In the afternoon, you’ll go to see the Highlights of Mandalay, you’ll start off your day with an opportunity to learn about the distinct Buddhist culture unique to Burma. You’ll visit the Mahamuni Image where you’ll have an opportunity to watch locals pray and place golden paper on the statue of Buddha for a blessing. You can participate as well if you like for a small donation to the temple(only men are allowed to place the gold on the statue).

You’ll also visit a gold paper factory to see how golden leafs are made, a staple in Burmese religious practices. Then you’ll visit the 19th century Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Palace Monastery) famous for its teak carvings of Buddhist mythology.

Next, you’ll see the Kuthodaw Pagoda which is a Buddhist stupa that contains the world’s largest book of Buddhism.

At the end of your day, you’ll enjoy a gorgeous sunset from the top of Mandalay Hill.

Day 3: Mandalay | Ancient Amapura Capital

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch

In the morning, you’ll go to Sagaing which was the capital located on the Irrawaddy River. You’ll cross the Inwa Bridge, which was built by the British in 1934. Then you’ll visit the Maha Ganayon Kyaung Monastery to see hundreds of monks line up for daily meals. Then visit the U-Bein Bridge which is 1.2 kilometers long and is the longest teakwood bridge in the world.

Next, you’ll see Kaung Mu Taw Pagoda: a dome-shaped pagoda which rises up 46 meters. At the base of the pagoda, there are 812 stone pillars, each one with a hollow and image of a Nat inside. Continue with a visit to Sagaing Hill. The hill has a number of small pagodas with many meditation centers along with Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda – pagoda painted with gold. You can stop at monasteries and nunneries to speak with monks while enjoying hot green tea.

Then continue visit with a visit of Amarapura,“City of Immortality”, the old capital of Myanmar. At the end of the day, visit the ancient temple of Pahtodawgyi which was built in 1820.

Return to Mandalay and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 4: Mandalay – Bagan | Bagan’s Valley of a Thousand Temples

In the early morning, take a flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to for check in.

Today you’ll explore Bagan, where you will see its thousands of Buddhist pagodas spread in the valley of the Ancient City of Bagan. These pagodas used to own by individual families during prosperous times. You will visit the Nyaung Oo Market where locals buy and sell produce. Then you’ll visit the Shwezigon Pagoda which is the largest pagoda in Bagan painted with real gold.

Have a rest in the hotel during the hot afternoon. Then you’ll enjoy a Horse Cart Ride first to the small village of Taung Phi where rests a worn teak monastery awaiting the rare tourists who are lost. You’ll continue by horse cart around temples and winding roads as the sun makes it’s way to the sky’s edge casting curious shadows from the temples across the plain. Continue to Shesandaw Pagoda. From your vantage point, you’ll watch one of the best sunsets in Southeast Asia. Then you’ll take a horse cart ride back to your hotel.

Day 5: Bagan – Heho | Hot Air Balloon Ride | Flight to Heho

Experience the unrivaled majesty of thousands of ancient temples drifting below you in style, comfort, and safety. You’ll rise early in the morning to beat dawn for a spectacular sunrise over the unique Bagan scene aloft in your hot air balloon.

In the late morning, take a flight to Heho. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to Aureum Palace Inle Resort next to Inle Lake for check in. Then enjoy the rest of the day.

Day 6: Heho | Excursion on the Inle Lake

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch

Your Excursion today will be made by private long tail boat to see the life of the In-tha tribe(name of local ethnic people live on the lake), to discover their unique floating farms and life on the water. You will also witness local fishermen who fish while using only one leg to paddle the boat. Then you’ll visit the Long Neck Ladies who were relocated from the Myanmar and Thailand border.

Rest of the day is at your leisure to relax.

Day 7: Heho – Thandwe | Flight to Thandwe | Relax on the beach of Ngapali

Day 11: Yangon | Burma Capital Highlights

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
After breakfast, visit the downtown area to see the Old City Hall and Maharbandoola Park. Then take a stroll along the old street ending at the old Strand Hotel. Next, drive to Botahtaung Pagoda which features golden decorations inside the pagoda. Continue to Bogyoke Market which displays the ten official Burmese traditional handicrafts including stone carving, wood carving, bronze carving, painting, etc.

In the afternoon, visit Kandawgyi Park for a stroll near Chaukhtetgyi Reclining Buddha Image – one of the largest in Yangon. Continue to the highlight of Yangon: the golden Shwedagon Pagoda. Shwedagon plays a very important role in the Old Burmese History and also is an important Buddhist icon. Enjoy the sunset over the pagoda.

Day 12: Yangon – Bangkok | Flight to Bangkok | At Leisure

In the morning, transfer by flight to Bangkok in Thailand. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Mandarin Oriental for check in.

Enjoy the afternoon by visiting some of the highlights of Bangkok. The first destination is Wat Phra Kaew, the chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which houses the world’s most famous image of Buddha. The 75cm statue of jade sits atop an 11m golden pedestal surrounded by lavish murals and richly decorated pavilions. Next, you’ll visit The Grand Palace which encompasses several major buildings. The most prominent include The Throne Hall, The Reception Hall, and The Coronation Hall.

Then, you’ll visit Wat Traimit, the temple of the golden Buddha. It weighs 5.5 tons of solid gold and was sculptured in the Sukhothai style. At the end of the tour, you’ll be escorted to your hotel.

Day 13: Bangkok | Venice of the East

In the morning, you’ll pick up from the hotel to Thonburi, the western part of Bangkok, situated on the right side of the Chao Phya River. Its many canals had originally given Bangkok the name “Venice of the East.” Passing by boat along the canals gives you a first-hand impression of the scenic life along Bangkok’s waterways. Also, visit the Royal Barges and the Temple of Dawn. After tour is finished, you’ll return back to your hotel for your leisure time.

Day 14: Bangkok | Ayutthaya Cruise

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
Today you’ll visit the Ancient Kingdom of Ayutthaya. Start by visiting Wat Phu Khao Thong – a temple outside of Ayutthaya started by the invading Burmese who built the base when they overtook Ayutthaya and was finished by Siam who later took back their city. Continue to Ayutthaya and start with the Royal Palace and Royal Temple – dating back to the 14th century. Continue to the nearby Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit where the largest bronze Buddha in Thailand is housed.

Enjoy a Thai lunch and some free time. Have a short visit to Wat Lokaya Sutha – the image of the reclining Buddha. Then continue to the Royal Palace at Bang Pa In, which is the Summer Palace of the Thai Royal Family.

The evening will commence with a Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise on Apsara by Banyan Tree. As dusk is setting, enjoy the views of the lights of Bangkok while tasting sumptuous courses served to you en route.

Day 15: Bangkok – Siem Reap | Cambodia: The Kingdom of Wonders | Angkor National Museum

In the morning, take a flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to Shinta Mani Club for check in. Enjoy a short rest.

After lunch, you’ll start to discover The Legend Revealed – Angkor National Museum. Housed within are robust collections of ancient statues and relics. This museum will take you through a journey back in time from inception of the Khmer civilization to its pinnacle of dominance in the region. Through the use of interactive exhibits, you will develop a deeper understanding of customs, traditions, and beliefs held by the ancient civilization in this region. This museum provides an excellent presentation of the secrets and mysteries surrounding the Khmer Empire.

Day 16: Siem Reap | Kompong Phluk Floating Village & Banteay Srei: Citadel of Women

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch , Dinner
In the morning, you’ll take a boat trip on the water of the Tonle Sap Lake to a floating village called Kampong Phluk. Kampong Phluk means, Harbor of the Tusks, due to it’s past trade in elephant ivory many years ago. Having 3,000 habitants residing in stilted houses, the most common profession is fishing. Next, you’ll explore the unique mangrove forests nearby which are home to many species of rare birds. At noon you’ll enjoy lunch at a restaurant.

Then you’ll go on to visit Banteay Srei Temple: The Citadel of Women. Banteay Srei is built largely of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings, which are still in excellent condition to this day. The structures are miniature in scale, but the attention to detail is unmatched among all the temples in Southeast Asia.

Be prepared to enjoy a beautiful traditional dance performed by a team trained in the Dance of Apsara. This is a unique dinner experience which will bring ancient Khmer culture to life in spectacular surroundings while you enjoy the very best in Cambodia cuisine. This one-of-a-kind cultural experience highlights the mysterious civilization and heritage of Khmer spoken through choreography and music. Colorful costumes and playful activities will give you insights into the Khmer daily life and wedding traditions while you enjoy a delicious meal.

Day 17: Siem Reap | Angkor Thom Ancient Capital

Meals: Breakfast , Lunch
Before the light of day, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and escort you to the front of Angkor Wat. From here, you’ll watch one of the most revered sunrises in the world.

You’ll return to your hotel for breakfast and a short rest. Later in the morning, your guide will take you to Angkor Thom’s South Gate. Here you’ll enter the capital of an ancient civilization that ruled much of Southeast Asia nearly a millennium ago. You’ll continue to Bayon Temple where you will be surrounded by 216 gigantic stone faces famed as the Smile of Angkor. You will also visit the Terrace of the Elephants, the Royal Palace and the Terrace of the Leper King. After that, you will stop for lunch in front Srah Srang – an ancient man-made pool. After lunch, you’ll continue to an ancient Buddhist Monastery and University called Ta Prohm which was built in the Bayon style in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Ta Prohm is one of the most attractive temples with its combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surrounding it.

As the sun approaches the horizon, you’ll perch atop Pre Rup’s pyramid-shaped temple for a stunning sunset view over Cambodian countryside.

Day 18: Siem Reap | Wonder of Ancient Asia: Angkor Wat Temple

For your last day in Siem Reap, you’ll experience the temple relics in a way that will really let you feel like you’ve escaped the 20th century and traveled a thousand years back to a time when life was simple and nature was surreal.

After breakfast, you’ll go for a gondola ride through the moats of Angkor Thom to see the vast ruins of the Khmer Empire at its peak. Close your eyes and smell the sweet perfume of the romdoul flowers growing wild on the shore mixed with the scent of lotus flowers bobbing in the water.

Finally, be prepared today to enjoy one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Angkor Wat. At this point, you most probably have gotten glimpses of the towers over treetops and the gates in front in passing. But now you’ll finally get to satiate that curiosity that’s grown in the last few days.

Enter Angkor Wat and learn about the stories and amazing architecture that has stunned archaeologists leaving more questions than answers. Angkor Wat possesses some of the most intricate and longest stone carvings in the world. This complex is four times the size of the Vatican City making it the largest religious site in the world. Spend the morning adventuring through the many passages, levels, and exploring chambers that once housed many treasures of the ancient world. It will be an experience you won’t forget. Then enjoy your leisure time for the rest of the day.
